Time to be together.

A Lake Bohinj couple photoshoot can become a small, meaningful part of your holiday: a walk beside the water, a pause in the trees and photographs of the two of you in the landscape you came to see.

I’m Sanja from Sanja’s Visuals, based near Lake Bled. I help couples visiting Slovenia choose a setting, plan around the light and feel comfortable during their photographs. You can book a session for a honeymoon, an anniversary or simply because you want to remember this trip together.

Send me your travel dates and I will help you choose where to begin.

Where should we take couple photos in Bohinj?

The best location depends on your dates, where you are staying and how much moving around you want to do. I prefer to choose a manageable area and give us time there, rather than rush around the whole lake.

Ribčev Laz: a recognisable introduction to Bohinj

The eastern end of the lake, around Ribčev Laz, offers the familiar setting of the bridge and Church of St John the Baptist. It can suit couples who want their photographs to feel immediately connected to Bohinj and who are staying nearby.

It is also a well visited area. We choose our timing and angles thoughtfully and keep paths and access points clear.

Ukanc: a different lakeside perspective

At the western end of the lake, Ukanc gives us another starting point for a session around the shore. The landscape and changing light can feel quite different here from the eastern end. We check the exact meeting point and the route rather than assume every part of the shore is equally convenient.

Woodland and village surroundings

If you love softer backgrounds, we can discuss suitable paths and woodland edges or a village setting around the Bohinj valley. These are options to plan, not extra stops that have to be added. Public access and permission matter, especially around homes, working farmland and private jetties.

When is the best time for a Bohinj photoshoot?

I would choose the time after choosing the location. The lake sits among mountains, and direct sunlight can disappear from a spot before the official sunset time. Morning can bring soft light, but also mist or cloud that changes the view.

Later light can be beautiful too, depending on the season and the side of the lake. I look at your date and travel schedule, suggest a starting time and review the forecast closer to the session.

A useful starting point: tell me when you are free, rather than booking the final hour before sunset automatically. We can work out which light suits the setting and your plans.

Calm water may give us reflections. Wind may give the lake texture. Neither has to stop us making photographs, but the result will feel different. The aim is to work with the day we have.

What will the session feel like?

We begin with something simple: a walk, a small movement, standing together and settling into the place. I show you where the light works and give clear prompts when you need them.

There is room for close portraits, wider landscapes and the little moments in between. If you feel shy, you do not need to hide it or suddenly become outgoing. We can take a calmer approach.

I work with couples from around the world and can plan the session in English, German, Slovenian or Serbian/Croatian. You can tell me your preferred language when you enquire. My guide to planning a photoshoot in Slovenia from abroad explains how we prepare before you travel.

How to fit photography into your Bohinj holiday

Let me know where you are staying and whether you will have a car. Travel between locations, parking and walking all need to fit the time available. We can plan one area well instead of spending the session in transit.

For current travel information, check the official Bohinj transport guidance. We confirm the photography meeting point separately, so you know exactly where to find me.

If you imagine a boat as part of your photographs, mention it at the enquiry stage. Rental availability, operating times, weather and the photography setup need to be checked in advance. A boat is an optional arrangement, not something every lakeside session requires.

What to wear and bring

Wear clothes you like, can move in and do not need to adjust constantly. Soft colours and simple textures can sit beautifully against the lake and trees. You can coordinate without wearing matching outfits.

Bring shoes suited to the route and a warmer layer for shade or cooler weather. If you want dressier shoes in some photographs, carry them separately. Keep bags light so we can move comfortably.

Bohinj is a natural setting. We use appropriate paths and access points, leave plants and wildlife undisturbed, and take everything we bring away with us.

A few questions before you book

Is this only for engaged couples?

No. Holiday, anniversary and honeymoon sessions are all welcome. You do not need a ring or a special announcement.

What happens if it rains?

We review the forecast and discuss realistic options within our availability and booking terms. That may mean adjusting the time, choosing a different spot or working with light rain when you are comfortable with it.

Do we need to hike?

A lakeside session does not have to involve a mountain hike. Tell me about your comfort with walking and any access needs so we can choose a suitable plan.

How much does a couple photoshoot cost?

Send me your date, where you are staying and the kind of session you imagine. I will share availability and relevant photography options, with separate arrangements and costs explained before booking.

What if I want to propose?

We plan the surprise privately before the day. My Lake Bohinj proposal photography guide focuses on that experience.

Should we choose Bohinj, Bled or Jasna?

Start with the scenery and the route of your holiday. You can compare this guide with couple photography at Lake Bled and Kranjska Gora and Lake Jasna, then ask me which setting fits your dates.
