Lake Bled · A local photographer’s guide

A little time together.
A place you will remember.
Photographs that feel like you.

You do not need to be getting married to have beautiful photographs together. A holiday in Slovenia, an anniversary, your honeymoon, or simply a few days away with the person you love can be reason enough.

I’m Sanja, the photographer behind Sanja’s Visuals, based in Radovljica near Lake Bled. When you book a Lake Bled couple photoshoot with me, I help you choose where to go, when the light will suit us and how to turn that time into something you can enjoy. You do not need to arrive with poses or a finished plan.

I photograph couples visiting Slovenia from around the world. We can plan your session in English before you arrive, so you have a clear meeting point, a suitable time and someone local to guide you. Whether this is your first visit or a place you already love, you do not have to work out every detail on your own.

Send me your travel dates and let’s plan your session.

Where is the best place for couple photos at Lake Bled?

There is no single spot that works best for every couple. Some people imagine a little wooden boat and the island behind them. Others would rather walk beside the water, stop under the trees and keep their feet on solid ground. I suggest a location around your preferences, the season and the light on your date.

The lakeshore: relaxed, simple and full of variety

A lakeside session lets us move between open views, greenery and quieter corners without turning your photoshoot into an ambitious itinerary. The western shore around Zaka is one area we can consider. Elsewhere, I look for a flattering angle, a clear background and enough room for you to feel comfortable.

Not every jetty is available for public use. I check access before suggesting a meeting point, and we work around other visitors rather than promising an empty lake.

A wooden rowing boat: time together on the water

A boat session has its own pace. The shore slips away, the view opens up and small moments happen naturally: a hand on a shoulder, a laugh, the way you look at each other between photographs. We agree on the practical setup before the session. Boat rental is separate from photography and depends on availability and conditions.

A viewpoint: for couples who enjoy the walk

If you imagine the lake from above, we can discuss whether a viewpoint belongs in your plan. A route such as Ojstrica involves a steep walk on uneven ground, so it is a different experience from a lakeside session. Tell me how much walking you want before we choose a location. Any hike and photographer arrangements need to be agreed in advance.

A rowing boat gives a couple session a different rhythm: slower, closer and surrounded by water.

The best time is about the light, not just the clock

Early morning can give us a softer atmosphere and fewer people in some areas. Later in the day, the light may become warmer and more directional. But I would not promise the same golden light at a fixed hour throughout the year.

The sun’s position, nearby hills, clouds and the side of the lake all affect the photographs. A spot can fall into shade before the sunset time on your phone. I suggest a starting time for your actual date and location, then we review the forecast closer to the session.

My advice: send me your travel dates before deciding that the session must be at sunrise or sunset. We can choose a time that works for the photographs and for your holiday.

Overcast weather can be beautiful too. Softer light lets us concentrate on your connection and the landscape without needing to chase a narrow patch of sunshine.

You do not have to know how to pose

My job is to notice the light and guide you into it. Your job is to spend a little time with each other.

I might ask you to walk slowly, come a little closer, turn towards one another or pause for a moment. There is direction when you need it and room to move when you do not. I look for a mix of wider photographs that show where you are and closer frames that show how it felt.

If one of you feels shy about being photographed, tell me. We can begin with a walk and simple movement instead of expecting you to feel comfortable immediately.

Space for the landscape, and space for the two of you.

What should you wear?

Start with clothes you enjoy wearing and can move in. Soft neutrals, earthy colours and gentle tones can work beautifully with the lake, but you do not need matching outfits or a completely new wardrobe.

Avoid large logos if you want the focus to stay on you. Bring shoes suitable for the route and a layer for cooler weather. If you would like to wear dressier shoes for a few photographs, carry them separately. I can help you choose between outfit options before we meet.

How we plan your session

  1. Tell me when you are visiting. Include your dates, where you are staying and whether you prefer the lakeshore, a boat or a more adventurous setting.
  2. I suggest a plan. We discuss the location, light, walking involved, coverage and any separate arrangements.
  3. We confirm the details. Before the session, you receive a meeting point and practical guidance, with the weather taken into account.
  4. You enjoy being there. I guide you through the photographs so you can stop worrying about what to do with your hands.

A few things couples often ask

Can we book a session even if we are not engaged?

Absolutely. This is for couples celebrating an anniversary, enjoying a holiday or simply wanting photographs together. You do not need a special announcement.

What if it rains?

We discuss the forecast and realistic alternatives. Depending on availability and conditions, that may mean adjusting the time, choosing a different setting or working with light rain. Changes depend on our agreed booking terms; sunshine cannot be guaranteed.

How much time should we allow?

That depends on the experience you want. A relaxed session in one area needs a different plan from combining a boat with lakeside portraits. Tell me your priorities and I will recommend suitable coverage rather than fill the time with unnecessary travel.

What does a Lake Bled couple photoshoot cost?

Send me your dates and a little about your plans, and I will share availability and the relevant photography options. Any boat rental, entrance fees or other separate costs will be clarified before you book.

What if I am planning a surprise proposal?

Then we make a discreet plan for the moment itself. Visit my Lake Bled proposal photography page for that experience.

Let’s make this part of your Lake Bled holiday

Tell me your dates, whether you imagine the lake from the shore or from a boat, and what you would love to remember. You do not need to know the best location or the right hour yet. That is where I can help.
