What does a proposal photographer actually capture?
The question itself may last only a few seconds. The complete story begins before someone goes down on one knee and continues long after the first surprised yes.
I arrive early and photograph from an agreed position, allowing the proposal to unfold naturally. I look for the anticipation, the moment your partner understands what is happening, the laughter, happy tears, embraces and all the beautifully unplanned reactions afterwards.
Once the secret is out, we continue with relaxed engagement portraits. Most couples have never been professionally photographed together, so you do not need to know how to pose. I offer gentle direction and simple movement while leaving space for you to enjoy your first moments as an engaged couple.
I am Sanja, the photographer behind Sanja’s Visuals, based close to Lake Bled. With more than a decade of experience and local knowledge of the lakes and Julian Alps, I help international couples create a proposal plan that is clear enough to work and relaxed enough to still feel personal.

Proposal photography collections currently start at €400 and include discreet coverage, portraits afterwards, location and timing guidance, approximately 50 edited photographs per hour and a private online gallery.
Light, privacy and real weather
When is the best time for proposal photos in Slovenia?
Early morning often gives us softer light and fewer visitors at popular lakeside locations. Evening can feel warmer and more romantic, but it may be busier during the summer and on weekends. The best time depends on the direction of the view, season, accessibility and your travel plans.
Clouds are not a problem. Soft overcast light can be extremely flattering, while mist can make the mountains feel cinematic. Heavy rain, storms, strong wind or unsafe boating conditions may require a change of time or location, so we agree on a sensible approach in advance.
One carefully chosen setting usually creates a better experience than rushing between several places. If you want a boat, Bled Castle, an outfit change or two distinct locations, allow enough photography and travel time.

Can you photograph the proposal without my partner knowing?
Yes. We agree on your route, the exact place to pause and how I will recognise you. I arrive before you and photograph from a discreet position, then introduce myself only after the proposal.
Which Lake Bled proposal location is the most private?
A private rowing boat is often my favourite option because the water creates distance from the busy shore. Early-morning viewpoints and quieter lakeside areas can also work beautifully, although complete privacy cannot be guaranteed at public places.
How long should I book a proposal photographer for?
One hour usually works for the proposal and engagement portraits around one small area. Two hours allow a more relaxed experience or two nearby settings. A boat trip, Bled Castle, a change of outfit or travel between locations requires more time.
Do you photograph proposals outside Lake Bled?
Yes. I photograph proposals at Lake Bohinj, Lake Jasna and Kranjska Gora, in Ljubljana, Piran and selected locations across the Julian Alps and Slovenia.
What happens after the proposal?
You first have time to enjoy the moment. We then continue with natural engagement photographs nearby. I guide you through simple movement, so no previous photoshoot experience is needed.
What if the weather changes?
Clouds and light rain can photograph beautifully. For heavy rain, storms, strong wind or unsafe lake conditions, we discuss a suitable adjustment or alternative according to availability and the booking terms.
How much does proposal photography in Slovenia cost?
Collections currently start at €400. The final price depends on the location, photography time and experience. Admission tickets, private venue fees, boat hire, flowers or travel outside the included area may be additional.
How do I reserve the date?
Send your preferred date, alternative dates if possible, where you will be staying and a few words about your idea. Once we agree on the photography option and plan, your date is secured with a non-refundable retainer.
