A Rainy Fairytale at Lake Jasna
Not every fairytale needs golden light.
This rainy Lake Jasna proposal in Kranjska Gora was proof that imperfect weather can create something incredibly beautiful. Mist moved through the Julian Alps, the lake became soft and silver, and the rain gave the afternoon a quiet, cinematic atmosphere.
Instead of waiting for sunshine, we embraced the weather and let it become part of the story.

Lake Jasna is one of my favourite proposal locations in Slovenia for couples who love mountains, water and a quieter Alpine atmosphere.
On clear days the lake feels bright and open. When clouds settle around the mountains, it becomes softer, moodier and wonderfully cinematic.
For this surprise proposal, the rain was not something to hide. It became part of what made the photographs feel so distinctive.
Every proposal needs a slightly different plan
Whenever possible, I try to stay flexible with timing and weather. A small change can sometimes give us a quieter location, softer light or a break between rain showers.
But destination proposals are often limited by the dates you are actually in Slovenia. Sometimes there is only one realistic day. For other couples, privacy matters more than perfect light.
That is why I look at your travel schedule, the forecast, season, light and how important privacy is to you before suggesting the best plan. Sometimes we wait for a break in the rain. Sometimes we embrace the weather exactly as it is.
What if privacy matters more than perfect light?
Lake Jasna is a public location, so complete privacy can never be guaranteed. Thoughtful timing, however, can make a big difference.
Early mornings, quieter conditions and carefully chosen areas around the lake can create a much more intimate atmosphere. Rain and clouds can sometimes work in our favour too, because fewer people stay by the lake.
